Don’t blame the players for load management, blame NBA teams

Do you agree with Nate?

This happens in all sports worldwide. Once you can start accepting this you can then move on.

And even if they make the regular season shorter with the number of games they are still going to do load management just not to the extent it is now.

So what’s the point of playing at all because there will always be an injury risk in athletic competition..

It's to keep your best players fresher both physically and mentally.

You rather your teams best players play all 82 games and shyt the bed in the playoffs in the first round due to fatigue? or have them miss 10-15 games in the regular season and make a deep play off run which they will make up those games missed in the regular season anyway.

On the one hand yeah it's s normal mindset in European football; If you're making deep Cup/Champions League runs than you have to account for extra games and not run your main players into the ground just cause u can

On the other hand they don't have a cap on roster size or a culture of standing players over being a diehard for one team

NBA players play more games And in more compressed schedules.

Load management has def been lead by front offices but our media is incapable of blaming executives/corporations.

It happens in all sports. They do it in Rugby in New Zealand. They do it in cycling. They even do it in individual sports like Tennis Swimming Track and Field. It's about peaking to get prime performance when it matters most. Why you think they give F1 drivers a mid season break? To keep the drivers mentally fresh.

My team got smashed in the playoffs 4-0 in the first round and the star/best players all played poorly but at least they played all 82 regular season games :mjcry:

It's not the players, the NBA TV deals & resulting schedule is the problem. Shorten the season and spread the games out and guys will be able to play every game at full strength.

We're going to see the same in the NFL soon with these goofy ass Thursday night and European games over the 18 game season.

Why does anyone on the coli care about load management?

All I read about on this board is now the game sucks since Kobe retired and players are soft and all they do is jack up 3 pointers and you all stopped watching games in 2017.

So how would you even know about guys taking games off?

But it makes sense. If the goal of an nba team is to maximize itself to win a championship or to at least be competitive in the playoffs for revenue this comes with it.

These doctors and trainers are told to do this for business purposes. Ask yourself this just in terms of revenue would you have Dame Lillard and the revenue he generates (tickets, Shirts, seats, box office seats, etc) for 15/16 years or 11/12?

There’s your answer
