"Don't Be a Menace...." is one of the most underrated & forgotten comedies

If ya'll look at the beer it says St. Dies on it. Never peeped that til just now.

Yeah, I noticed that back in 96 when I first saw it(St Ides was popular then).....but what I DIDN'T notice til the other day is that Marlon's mother(in the early part of the movie) is nursing her baby from a St. Dies milk bottle.

And when Crazy Legs gets shot and they visit him in the hospital, his IV is dripping St. Dies.

Mind you, I've seen this movie a dozen times and I still catch little stuff like that.

just the subtleties of things like in this clip with them having plastic over the stove and over all the pictures on the wall. I never noticed those a long time ago, but everytime you watch you can find something new.

LOL @ him being older than his father. That moment @ :53 secs is an all time funny moment for me.

This movie is fukking genius! I didn't see it in theater but rented the VHS as soon as it hit. There was only one good copy in my area. Breh.... we rented that shyt for like 2 months straight. Every week we'd have to return it, and it was already waiting for someone else. We put it on hold. Got it the following week. and so on for like 2 months.

This was the one of the first times as a youngin that I literally couldn't breathe from laughing when I saw that scene of the (young fake Big Tigger) simply because I knew back then when I shouldn't have of getting fukked up like that Good times.

Watching this now, forgot how funny this shyt is. Wayans got a bad reputation but they've made their fair share of classics. 'Menace' is actually a witty deconstruction of hood movies and stereotypes. So many funny lines and performances in this:

"Now children, what do we say when we meet a nice man”
Kids: "Are you my daddy?”

"I used to change my father's diapers all the time, ain't no thing"

"I hate the back of Forest Whitaker's neck"

"Y'all need to stop using the word nikka. You see, it's terms like the word nikka that the white man uses to take away the self esteem of another race.
