Gardner is getting some pitches he really needs to swing at. He’s not going after anything.

Generally, Gardner tries to work deep in the count. He sees like 4 pitches per at-bat. it has value, as it wears pitchers down and lets the rest of the lineup see the pitching approach and time the pitchers.

But I do agree, either that 1st or 2nd pitch should have been swung on.
