Dudes here are in different age ranges, and for the younger members BLM might be the first time they saw a social "political" trend start, rise, and end in real time.
Trends come and go, but people who are dedicated and committed to an issue continue to work. Criminal justice reform activists existed before BLM, and still exist after BLM leaders got caught with their hands in the cookie jar.

Also happening in real time is MAGA element trying to erase Black history from the public record and in public spaces. Blocking AA Studies AP courses, revising Black studies curricula, bringing back Confederate names for military bases. And in this case, erasing public mural that makes the public remember Oscar Grant and the hundreds of Black citizens who were killed by police officers.

I’m not saying we should go back to any era but if we have a movement that’s promoted using the word black it should be led by our people on a local level. The reason I say that is because a millionaire not living amongst us can’t tell us how to fix the issues in our communities. They can only promote their agendas which they did. Back to BLM, when most of us say "Black Lives Matter", we are not referring to the organization that Patrisse Cullors headed. We use the phrase to express that our lives have meaning, value, and purpose. We use that phrase as a battle cry against the systems that want to subjugate, harm, and erase us.
The removal of BLM Plaza has nothing to do with the LGBT, George Soros, or anything else. The plaza is being destroyed because there is a growing anti-Black segment of the federal government that feels that the negroes need to be put back in our place. This is only the beginning, too. As said above, we can expect Mayor Barry's statue to be removed, and The Duke Ellington School to be renamed after a confederate general, and for the "Chocolate City" nickname to be banned.
