There is little space to freelance policy in political parties. Trump did not sell out as much as he had no option but to co-opt whatever the mainstream Republicans wanted. He is light on policy apart from trade leaving a big gap for Republicans to influence a lot of the policy positions. We are talking about a guy who put up a list of Supreme Court justices approved by Heritage and a basic GOP healthcare plan. The only way he can be considered as selling out would be if you thought he was going to be radically different from the rest of his party.
