The Land of fukkery
just watched it...i liked it a lot.....Childish used this to bring his recent EP songs to life but the story itself was nice and the cast was exceptional...a lot of actors that I loved in other roles....it was like a mix of City of God with a musical twist....Childish and his brother are doin dope shyt with this film shyt...he might be on the same path as Jordan Peele....looking forward to more films by them...:salute:

Rhianna body was fukkin delicious in this too...:ohlawd:

wish they didn't kill Dani tho....:mjcry:

also is there a soundtrack to this film?...the song Childish was singin on the radio in the beginning with the hook "When The World Ends" was dope...is it a single??...:feedme:

Bama ass DC
dope watch.
Donald musta really not have been able to pull off an accent :pachaha: he was the only one in the film without one, which is kinda ironic considering he's the heart and spirit of the island yet he doesn't have one. Made him feel like an outsider to me.
RiRi's RiRis stole the show tho :noah:

Even though this mostly seemed like an excuse for Glover to spend some time on an island with Rihanna (can't blame him), it was a short and sweet story. Not sure why they cast Rihanna when she wasn't gonna do any singing but otherwise she did fine. Glover could've toned down his goofy faces a bit though, he could probably get away with his silly dancing if he didn't constantly pull clown faces while doing it. Either be serious or don't, but definitely don't try and be both.

The timing of the ending given recent events is certainly spooky, some shyt to think about.

I'm seeing this a lot.

Why not? She's an actress and fit the role.

I just figured since it was somewhat of a musical she was cast to sing a bit too, instead it was all Bino. Seems like a missed opportunity to not have a duet, although that may have distracted from the story.

Deni’s death scene reminded me too much of Nipsey....that was uncomfortable to watch.

I enjoyed this. The cinematography was lovely, the scenery was gorgeous, and so was Riri :takedat:

The storyline was simple enough, but told well, and with enough emotion and energy that it didn’t need to be anything more than it was. On a deeper level, in relation to the speech before This is America and the overall message as relates to the music video, I have some thoughts on that that I’m reserving till I read more about interpretations on it. But I did think that it was interesting how seemingly they shot the music video on the other side of the wall of where the movie version was filmed. I’ve got more theories but I’m waiting to see if I just read too deep into it or if others think the same way

The unknown
This was really well shot. The locale was beautiful - especially the Summertime Magic sequence.

50 min was the perfect length for this. Him and Rhianna made a good couple

the ending was a mix of :mjcry: of sadness and :mjcry: of joy. "We got our day"
