thats actually a valid point, and i would say the dominican republic has the right to do this and fundamentally this is something (poverty and legal papers) that hatians have to fix, whether its isreal or DR or anywhere else i dont really agree with this notion of going around the world demanding that people let black people into their country without a visa or without going through proper channels

my point in posting this story is that latinos are not our cousins anymore than jews or other white people are and the notion that black people would be better of we open up the floodgates of the US to latin america is a dumb idea and a dumb plan

Dominicans are mostly Black, too, there's no "them" and "us." They're just bamboozled. Over a century ago, Beyonce's Creole ancestors in New Orleans were calling themselves French and shytting on Black people, until segregation came along and forced them into the Black category/forced some sense into them. These Dominicans just don't have a reason to acknowledge their Blackness so they can continue living in delusion like many others.
