It depends on the person but for the sake of picking a choice I'd say no. Certain corners of the internet being the prime example - Clusters of people wallowing in misery from childhood/teenage trauma by engaging in the same topics/discussions ad nauseum to reaffirm the hate and bitterness they have for the person/people presumed to be the inflictors of said trauma or misfortune.

However, I suppose you can argue that it DOES motivate people more than joy, but most often it'll motivate them to act in a way that would multiply the trauma as opposed to leading a highly productive life in spite of it. Hurt people hurt people.

Trauma is more polarizing to deal with for sure
but people deal with different things, differently.

i think whether someone would be “motivated” by it would come down to them individually,
like discipline, willingness to improve, how pragmatic etc etc

most people don't actually want to improve at anything lol
most people are just happy to find a path of less resistance.

it takes a certain headspace to walk away from trauma being constructive.

I got into IT after struggling during the housing market crisis of 08. Figured it was the best industry for me to make money in. The shock of unemployment and unemployment checks running out got to me

Did you notice that right when you thought it was over a break through came?
