Hear me out.... im not saying he s a bad actor but is seems like in 90% of his roles he plays this intimidating brute who stares into a fixed point and cant move his head without moving the rest of his body.
i always fount it funny that ppl were calling him and fassbender the next deniro and pacino.
:hhh: They re both in their 40s now and dont have a classic role to their name.

Idk ... off the top of my head. Jake Gyllenhaal
At least you didn't pick somebody trash:manny:

Bronson
Inception
Dark Knight Rises
The Drop
Legend (dude literally plays two very different twins)
The Revenant (he had a better performance than the dude who won the Oscar from the film)
Venom

These are all very different roles, that call for very different performances. I didn't mention Fury Road because it really wasn't a character driven role. Hardy's a beast. Fassbender is too. Any comparison to DeNiro or Pacino were silly in the first place because they already have decades of work, in a time where creativity and originality in filmmaking wasn't as stifled, over these guys. There haven't been any DeNiros or Pacinos since DeNiro and Pacino:yeshrug:

You can add LAWLESS, LOCKE, STAR TREK: NEMESIS, DUNKIRK, STUART, LONDON ROAD to the list of flicks were Hardy wasn't playing an "intimidating brute" type of character.

Venom... bane...:russ:in inception he was a henchman. He played that revenant character in tabu, peeky blinders an in half of legend.
Bane is nothing like Eddie Brock. His Inception role is more James Bondish if anything. I hope the more fact that he's violent in the roles you're talking about isn't what you mean by "playing the same character"

I could see if this thread was about Michael Cera, but Hardy?:francis:
