I'm trimming down my streaming services. Honestly I just end up watching older films and the occasional A24 flick or decent Netflix documentary. Most stuff on Netflix reminds me of the USA Channel in the late 90s. Half baked ideas, clichés etc.

You can rent movies through your library through Kanopy. Hulu is also being more competitive with their offerings especially all the shows on FX, also anime, plus cheaper.

What made you do it?

I'm on the verge of doing it after all these damn cliff hanger series. I can't believe I'm paying for a service that delivers an incomplete product. The company is too big tech brained
The main reason I cancelled Netflix is because there weren't any shows or movies I was interested in seeing.

I'm not saying their content is bad. Only that the stuff I tend to watch...they didn't have much. And some shows that were interesting and got cancelled did leave a sour taste.

I have Prime Video through my Amazon subscription. I pay for HBO Max. And I pay $5 per month for the PBS app when I want to see documentaries and things like that.

That covers me for the most part.
Some shows that are on Netflix or Hulu or Apple TV, yeah I will miss out on them. But I also have an app on my fire stick that lets me watch some movies and TV shows. I mainly use it to watch sports. Plus I have a tv antenna so I can still catch any sports on CBS/NBC/ABC for free over the air.

A while back I got to the point where the only things I was watching on Netflix was The Office and Breaking Bad. I would watch them over and over. When NBC took The Office off of Netflix, I found myself not really caring about much else. There might have been a movie here and there. The Queens Gambit was good. But you can only watch SO MUCH.

Even Amazon Prime Video isn't all that great, but since I mainly got it for the 2 day shipping, the Video service is just a bonus.

So I'm paying $130 for Prime for the year, $180 for HBO for the year, $60 for the PBS...$370 total...for the year?
That's not too bad considering that cable tv gotta run at least $150 a month by itself.

Adding Netflix wouldn't break my wallet, but I don't have any FOMO over it.

I'll add that....I don't have a bunch of kids. And that can make cancelling some of these apps a bit more complicated.
