How do you know there aren't any professionals on the Coli? Maybe they don't have access to professional help?

Ever heard of talkspace or 7 cups of tea?

He's making no sense tbh. People talk about politics, economics, education all the time without necessarily being trained professionals. This forum would be dead if everybody thought like him.

Granted, mental health is a more sensitive topic, but nobody here is advocating for an "online therapy forum". We could guide someone towards proper professionals in their area if possible, and for those that cannot afford to go, we would have to make due with what we have. :yeshrug:

Point is, there is clearly a need for a dedicated forum where we could gather all of the threads that deal with mental health issues, life advice, moral guidance etc..

And if you can't understand the difference between general convo and counseling, I don't know what to tell you.

I think The Root would be a more appropriate section for threads like the OP is referring to.

One site dedicated strictly to online therapy is one thing but it's risky for the owners to incorporate such a thing among a forum like this. Bad advice can lead to lawsuits. It would need some heavy ass disclaimers.

You're too fixated on the word "therapy".

Check the thread that I linked in OP. What's so problematic about the general advice that's been given in that thread?

Is the word "therapy" NOT in the original topic? We already have advice threads about mental illness when the topic comes up. Why a separate forum?

I've removed the word "therapy" from the title of the thread since it gave the impression that the subforum in question would be a replacement for actual therapy.

@Rawtid do you still have issues with this proposal?

I don't have an "issue", I just don't agree there needs to be a separate forum to discuss mental illness. There is nothing wrong with me disagreeing either.

The Root mostly deals with history, culture etc.. maybe a subforum in the Root would do. Where ppl could post anonymously.

not the best idea.. if you need help, seek professional help..

alot of folks just want to see others broadcast their lives online for entertainment.. thats not cool, whatsoever..

also.. alot of those kind of threads get made, solely for entertainment purposes(@DrX).. which really aint funny, because theres folks out there who are really dealing with those issues, and not online posting for dap celebrations/featured thread..

I don't think there's anything wrong with you disagreeing. I'm not trying to shame you brehette:pachaha:

I just think that given the frequency of these threads and the enormity/complexity of this topic, a separate forum would be quite beneficial. We would benefit from gathering all the relevant information in one place, instead of having to reinvent the wheel every few days or so when some breh is going through a crisis.

TLR is infested with trolls and is not the best platform to have these types of discussions IMO. It's mostly for banter.

Check the thread that I linked in OP and how many posts were deleted just to keep it on track.

Separation is not going to guarantee serious replies nor a whole bunch of participants for that matter.

And if you can't understand the difference between general convo and counseling, I don't know what to tell you.

Even general convo threads get trolled in TLR + they soon disappear in a sea of bedwench threads, which means that the discussion never moves forward. That's why the same threads keep popping back up every few weeks.

As for counseling, some brehs just need someone to talk to and for whatever reason, they feel more comfortable talking about their problems to a bunch of strangers online. These depression, anxiety, suicide threads will continue to pop up whether we like it or not. Why not have a dedicated forum where we a) direct the brehs towards professional help if possible

and b) link them with other brehs who have gone through what they're currently going through (a support group of sorts)?

These threads will continue to be made regardless. I'm just proposing, what I think, is a more effective way of dealing with these problems.
