GOD
until blacks invest money in politics, our lives will not improve. no congressman will fight for something they have no stake in, and black congressmen are just tokens in the system.

Conservatives are more likely to cut programs that benefit us since they see it as frivolous spending if it's not defense related so just being part of a liberal voting block helps. My congressperson is black.I'm not sure what federal money hes individually responsible for getting sent back to the district but generally a lot of funds are used to support local projects which can directly translate into jobs.

I think more blacks at all levels of government can't hurt. Progressive legislation like tax incentives for low income area development, inclusionary zoning etc. we're more likely to support.
:francis: On a small level I happen to know that most of the staffers and interns in the district office are black so that employment is a start.

CBC also has a scholarship fund :yeshrug:

Theoretically, yes. More black Congresspeople should mean more focus on black issues. Congresspeople steer money into their communities too as @Dev2103 says his congressman does and create jobs. And at the very worst more blacks will stymie the Republican's will to make life harder on black people, so it's win-win either way.

Obama was raised by cacs in Haiwaii and lived in rich areas most of his life. He has no connection to blacks outside of his Kenyan father who didn't even live in the US very long.

Obama is a prime example of that. But as usual, you'll hear his groupies make 100s of excuses as to how his hands are tied when it's black issues.

Notice someone he always finds a way to outsmart/twist their arms for shyt he wants to get done. He threatened to shut down gov't for illegal aliens. When has he ever gotten big like that when it comes to AAs? But elect someone who's closest ties to AAs is his wife and wonder why you have these problems.

Besides, this country operates on representative democracy. Who ever has the biggest numbers benefits. That's where abortion has made certain to hobble us in those regards. Can't have tens of millions of dead black babies, who produce no offspring and think you can get somewhere when it comes down to numbers voting.

If you have enough black representatives you might be able to block certain bills from passing, but you need more to get certain bills to pass. It's a numbers game.
