From my experience it does. As someone that smoked 2-3 grams a day (not that much, relative to some) and stopped after secondary, looking back, it certainly had a negative influence. It certainly made me lazier and more apathetic in general; more careless and indifferent to "academic pursuits" in particular.
It was fun at the time, at least, though.

Really? School is the shyt when i'm blowed... especially if its a class i like.
I actually prefer to study high, i think it makes me retain better and i'm less distracted because i get so immersed in what im doing when im high.
I also clean the house the best when im blowed...when im sober i dont even give a fukk sometimes...but when im blowed and everything is in SUPER DETAIL...im like..."aw naw man that whole fridge gotta be cleaned, breh"

Clearly it'll be different for everyone but I was more concerned with laughing it up with friends while high in school than actually paying attention to things in class. More than that, though, was just the pervasive ennui about everything. The thing is, I didn't really notice it at the time, and probably would have argued that it wasn't true. It's only in retrospect that I can see how obvious it was.
