NaS has the streets on lock... real trill talk....
A few things you gotta factor in. A lot of people hopped to get Carter IV after that shyt went live on iTunes straight after the VMAs. A lot people got WTT digitally too.
Jeezys physical numbers are interesting though. Nicki got a 70% physical ratio too which kinda fukks things up. Ain't no one out here bangin' "Va Va Voom" in they're whips and shyt. I guess it's a decent but not diffinitive way of lookin' at it.
Good lookin' OP on the data btw. Ain't ever seen this shyt before.
Hmm that is interesting,I didn't even bother looking at hers cuz I figured it wuz majority digital......but I just looked and saw Jcole and Wale both had the same percentage at 66% to 34% digital......both artis who have that strong black female fanbase.....so yeah y'all right it is sum flaws in this ,does havin a female fanbase also=higher physical sales?
You got B.O.B selling 40% physical and 60%digital...which is what I figured lol....so it feels like its a sense of accuracy to it to a certain extent....the rappers with the high female fanbases have been the ones that caught me off guard, but the same ones that caught me off guard when they albums sold as much as they did(wale,jcole)....its good to see to me cuz it still seems like having that strong female fanbase or the streets on lock is still the route to take like its always been to have the highest sale numbers....maybe we can put a dent in that "black people don't buy albums" shyt I been hearing for a while now
Seems to me the artist known to have strong black female fanbases,or those known to have the streets on lock seem to be selling the most albums as hiphop artist
First off good looking on the info
But how u know for sure what race is buying the albums?
Plus just cause Wale and Cole have songs that cater to females don't mean thats their biggest fan base, from what I know females mostly buy singles not albums.
I agree with you on what u said about listening to what people ride to in your own area to see what the streets really fvck with, but on the other hand alot of that can be more regional artist, like for example out here I hear alot of niccas bumpin YG but on a national level I don't think he really gets major play like that. On the other hand Kendrick is another cat that gets major play everywhere I got around here and we all know he's a nationally supported artist,So you it's hard to know who got the streets on lock nationwide really
Another thing I honestly don't think the majority of rap sales come from blacks, I mean we a minority breh, just the fact that there is more white rap fans than black kills that idea
edit
That's where I think we can take what we know about these rappers fanbases and use them with the stats.....I think if u look at who's going to Wale and Jcole shows and the fact u probaly don't know many nikkas that listen to Jcole like that, only wale jcole fans I've come across have been females....I think we can make the assumption of who's buying those records.
It's 2012 nikka, dopeboys are walkin around with tablets and iphones and stay on instagram and twitter..it's only a small percentage of nikkas who aren't at least semi tech saavy nowadays.
