Not necessarily. Depends how and where an album is marketed. and if an artist has a strong local fanbase where a label can focus its promo. Watch The Throne was available on Itunes a week before physical release. There's just tons of other shyt to factor in.

I'm not saying that Jeezy doesn't have a remarkable grassroots fanbase but themselves these stats don't tell you much.

But which streets are we talking about though...?

In which areas and IP addresses are the majority of copies being purchased...?

It's more complicated than just looking at those numbers...

Given that rappers from the west coast, Florida, GA, NY, Canada, Mississippi got about the same percentages I think it's safe to assume that it's evenly distributed across the board.

For real?I think these stats tellin so much I can't believe what they tellin...let's be honest its suprising how many nikkas don't know how to download they own music or don't care too in the year 2012,either don't have the meanns or don't know where to go to do it or don't know.....but nikkas will always prefer to have the physical copy over a digital copy for car purposes and plain convienience...we goin to the store or too the bootleg man.

I just wish we could gather numbers from the bootleg man...that's why you guys tellin us how many nikkas u heard drive by bumpin the cd is still so important to the discussion,we need to know if ya bootleg man tells u he sold out of that tm103 cuz everybody buyin it....but I do think these stats are a good start....cuz these numbers just feel right and are in the exact order I woulve expected....only flaw is comparin nikkas who sold 2million records versus dudes sellin 500K

Good info... some interesting numbers up there.

But it's too simplistic to say that physical = the streets and digital = not streets.

Take the case of people who are too hood to have internet. Are they really going to drop $$$ for every retail CD when they can cop the bootlegs for a fraction of the price? As you said in your last post.

And then think about all the other people who are copping CDs instead of downloading who aren't "the streets".

you're right, internet was the wrong word... I mean downloading music for free basically...

Which you can't really do on iphone, ipad, etc... can you?
