Wasn't nothing better than during the "Fade To Black" concert movie when Jay had the crowd rap Biggie's verse on "Mo Money Mo Problems" and they went IN, and spit that shyt perfectly....to where he had to cut them off after the "throw your Rollies in the sky" part.
Best part of that whole concert film.

Yes Big's word play was something special and unique which is why he's a Legend. Even though he dropped out he always had high marks in school before he got into the streets. I'm not shocked by the command of the English Language he had. Here are some opening bars by other rappers that I love:
