I bought a used cannondale at the beginning of the summer and it really turned my rides around! I got a great deal on it too. I put new pedals on it and got it tuned up. The bike is so light I can curl it. Sad the summer is winding down, and now I work weird hours. Do any of you ride in the winter? What gear do you suggest if so? Oh! Any of you use clips or those special shoes and pedals?

I've gotten so into biking now. It's such good exercise and it's really relaxing mentally. Finding some dope music and just letting it play and ride around is one of my favorite pastimes.

I use clip in shoes and pedals, paired with some multidirectional release cleats. I love them. I ride single speed, so it's a huge help getting up hills since I'm still able to pull and get power on the upstroke as well.

A good set of pedals can get costly, I'd recommend checking out wiggle or chain reaction once you decide on a pair. Their prices are way cheaper and despite being uk based, both their shipping times are ridiculously fast and cheap as well.

I was gonna make a new thread but decided to add to this one.

I’ve tried running up and down hills, the treadmill, rowing machine, jump rope but nothing has yielded more results quicker than cycling.

Ive been cycling heavy for the past 3/4 months and I’ve lost a lot of weight. I wasn’t fat but was a little chubby since coming out of lockdown. Cycling 3/4 times a week, initially 10-12 miles every time made me lean quickly.

Seriously, get a bike ASAP. I promise you won’t regret it. And the more hills you cycle up and down on, the better.

You right. Biking for me has always been my best workout since I was a kid.

live in TX now so it's not that much a thing I have to deal with now. I am gonna focus on flexibility/agility this winter tho. Starting to notice my quads and hams are super tight since I got back on after breaking my hand in June. Did a 40+ miler yesterday and my damn back locked up like shyt afterwards.

Probably cop a bike trainer stand around Black Friday

I recently brought a bike and I’ve been cycling almost everyday. It’s been helping with my depression lately and I enjoy riding around the city and just taking in the scenery. :ahh:

It’s one of the best feelings I had in a while.
I got an '89 Cannondale. Need it to lose body fat. It's cool but I'm curious about the premium bikes.

Live in the midwest. Due to the covid demand for bikes, I didn't get mines until January 2021 and wasn't trying to wait until March to start riding so I got started in the cold weather. The best way I can describe it is business as usual, except about a 10-20 degrees difference from your normal thresholds. So like IRL walking around, I might wear a light jacket at 60 degrees and a heavy jacket at 40 degrees. When I'm biking, I'm moving around so I might wear a light jacket at 35-40 degrees and just find a different mode of transportation if it drops below 30 degrees for example.

Also, gloves help a lot, but also find a popular bike path to make things easier. With a popular bike path, I'm able to go for a ride a few hours after it snows because I know the plows are gonna slide and make for a smooth ride. Normal streets designed for cars don't have that same luxury and in fact, most snow gets pushed into the bike lanes during the winter.

Steel MASI gravel bike with ultegra groupset and hydraulic disks...
:ahh:
38c Schwalbe Marathons and carbon fork eat up vibration riding through the city.

I take fig from Manchester all the way to DTLA in about 35min

Cycling saved my life for real. Couldn't have made it through locksown without it.
:wow:
Damn another Masi rider. Dope :obama:

I ride a fixed gear Masi. Hoping to get another frame next year. Had mine since 2012 and haven't been able to ride for quite a few years since I started work that doesn't have me home a lot. But I've decided to get back into it again. Even though the summer is ending, I know this is something I wanna continue, so I bought a set of rollers, and then I can keep continuing indoors.

Now if I could just figure out how to stay on the damned thing without killing myself :snoop:

used to be more into it. one of my homies is a multiple national cyclocross champ and his buddy/my old boss/friend has a cycling team, so I worked with and knew/know a ton. I have a trek roadie and a Surly Crosscheck, but I might grab something new this offseason as both those joints are old but the frames are good
