Doechii's album "ABNH" was what Hip Hop heads were waiting for but it went under the radar so now you can't complain about Sexyy Red and Ice Spice.

It’s a just fallacious point IMO…small regional acts that actually gained following from the ground up and worked their way to their spot over time because people fukked with the music, which later turned into buzz and media attention…isn’t the same thing from these obvious big budget industry super pushes like Doechi is getting…the disconnect the OP is talking about is the gap between organic buzz and manufactured one…I don’t ignore that because the gimmick they’re pushing is “oh she has substance when she’s talking about the color of her p*ssy…she’s an artise :ohlawd:

She’s about to get the biggest push imaginable with the Grammy hype

So you just gonna ignore me pointing out that Rapsody had the same Grammy hype and a Roc Nation push and yet Rapsody is where she is today? It's a fallacious point if I'm seeing the same pattern?

Under the radar? She’s been arguably the hottest female rapper of the year outside of Glorilla.

Maybe people just don’t like it?

:patrice:

Is everybody in the real world talking about her album? Do you hear her songs on the radio nonstop? Cars driving by bumping her songs heavy in the streets? Is Baller Alert and Shaderoom flooding stories about her like they do Sexyy Red and Ice Spice?

Cause she is trash. Even the machine can't force people to like something. She got a little cult following though.

Rapsody was a known commodity by the time that got that Grammy nomination, she didn’t get the “next big time” super rocket push Doechi is in the midst of getting

This is the part where nikkas lose the plot because situations like this don't neatly fits the narrative.

Doechii is getting the industry push and nikkas aren't interested. Point blank. In spite of her substance. What's worse is if she didn't get the industry push then she might as well have not even existed, since "the streets" support rarely goes to an artist like her.

Instead the organic "streets" support will go to a substance-less rapper like Boosie, King Von or to a lesser extent Glorilla. Mfs will get celebrated and the label execs will eventually pop up to capitalize.

On the otherhand when a Sexxy Red gets her (inorganic) industry push nikkas want to drop think pieces and video essays about what messages and images "they" are trying to push into our children. All while a dozen doechii, no name, scar lip etc type rappers are in their peripheral drowning.

I fell out with these narrative ms long ago as I watched many of those early 2010s rappers disappear while nikkas seemed determined to drag trash along past the finish line

I don't think that's accurate at all. Her Tiny Desk has over 5 million views. Most Tiny Desks don't get over a million, and she's getting similar views to legacy acts like Nelly Furtado and Maxwell. In fact the only stars getting more views than her in the past few months are Sabrina Carpenter, Billie Eilish, and Dua Lipa. Three (borderline) stadium acts.

Not under the radar at all. She has the 3rd most praised rap album this year on end year lists, after kendrick and tyler.

And she's literally signed to one of the best rap labels.

Chick got a tiny desk with over 5 million views.

Performing with Issa Rae. Been on night shows performing. This girl is winning

why not use general streaming numbers? tiny desk is niche and not really a gauge on her place in the mainstream.

WHOA. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion but this is crackhead talk. Doechii is the most talented female rapper in the game today and arguably rapper period. Her lyrics are dope, her live performance is exceptional and she can even sing. Calling her trash is blasphemy :camby:
