Bad Wolf are taking over production of the show in partnership with the BBC. As far as they have been saying recently before this was confirmed it doesn't really mean anything. Sony aren't going to have a say in what happens with the show as such. The beeb still retain all the rights etc.

Ideally they will just be there to offer finances to Bad Wolf if they need it and not start doing Netflix style shyt where they buy rights to air things and start demanding creative input.

It's the BBC's responsibility for the budget, hiring of showrunners, crew, cast etc. Sony haven't had any control over Who ever. Only ridiculous suggestions when it came to the TVM in '96. Worth looking for info on the Leekely Bible.

I think that’s exactly where this is going.

Sony doesn’t have a streaming service so they don’t need filler content to up subscribers numbers.

The only reason for them to be involved is to finance new endeavors/ properties. And in the world of Foundation, Expanse, Game of Thrones they can’t go back from how Chibnall has upped the production values.

So if BBC only wants to do 5 million an episode, I can definitely see Bad Wolf saying we’ll kick in an extra 4 million. The BBC is funded on public fees. They don’t care if they have an outside company paying money they don’t have to.

That was ok. Bit underwhelming.

Still, at least we only have a few weeks until the next episode.

That dude Jericho went out like a G.:salute:

Liked the three Doctors things.

Surprised Bel and Vinder just ended up being Bel and Vinder.

Don’t know what that Time entity was or what Swarm and Azure were doing.

Sontarans literally tried to kill everybody and I was legit impressed. That would have been a massacre of a gigantic scale.

I was disappointed how Swarm and Azure ended up being taken out in the way they were but aside from that I liked the ending.

Jericho went out like a soldier.

I realized that Chibbs legit had a shyt ton of seasons of stories to tell

and he told them all, more or less, in six episodes.

and honestly, it's quite a feat. This was almost as good as the entirety of the last two seasons.

Who yall got as the new Doctor Who.
Based on his track record. RTD used people he already worked with.

on the flip side , the BBC doesn’t really need the money from merchandise sales since tv is paid for already but I think they will want a younger white dude to sell like his earlier era.

I think it's going to be one of the guys from It's A Sin:

I was leaning toward Olly Alexander (dude in the jean jacket) but I'm now thinking it could be Nathan Curtis (the guy in the trenchcoat) just because I don't RTD wanting to go back to the default setting of The Doctor as a white guy.

Jodie wants it to be Lydia West and I would be surprised if it wasn't someone from 'It's A Sin' as everyone in it was outstanding but I think there has just been a little too much media attention around the cast since RTD was revealed to be taking over again so I don't know.

They haven't even started auditions yet. Jodie has filmed her part of the regen a few months back and filming won't start on the 60th special for a long time yet so it's going to be a good while before we know who is taking over.

And although good, I thought Olly Alexander was the least best actor out of the main cast and can't really see him as the Doctor.

Production pencilled in to begin next spring. Vague on what stage as plenty can be in motion before a new Doctor is cast. Seems very early as well so I'd assume that it could move back to the earlier in the year schedule it occupied for a long time. Possibly the 60th then a Xmas ep and then full series in the spring of 2024.

Great stuff, good story, Aisling Bea was on fine form, the Daleks had a right superior attitude as they should do and a very odd surprise cameo
Karl from The Woman Who Fell To Earth

And that last shot and title reveal of the trailer made me shout out very loudly.

I knew Chibnall would get to them eventually but buzzing to see the design hasn't been changed at all unlike the Silurians.

Synopsis

“This episode finds the Doctor (Jodie Whittaker), Yaz (Mandip Gill) and Dan (John Bishop) in 19th century China, where a small coastal village is under threat – from both the fearsome pirate queen Madame Ching (Crystal Yu) and a monstrous alien force which she unwittingly unleashes. Will the Doctor, Yaz and Dan emerge from this swashbuckling battle with the Sea Devils to save the planet?”

Enjoyed the New Year's special and really liked the characters of Nick and Sara. The Tardis redesign is snazzy too.

My only issue is that I've never been a fan of Companions falling for the Doctor so this Yaz having feelings for The Doctor stuff isn't my cup of tea.
