It depends. Some shows and movies I have them on.
I'm deaf, so I have no choice.
only if they're talking funny
Yep this is the main reason I started preferring having subtitles on. To keep me from missing dialogue when watching movies.I do and I don't know why I started but they came in really handy during the flashback scene in GoT between Ned and his dying sister Lyanna last season. Keeps me from missing some important dialogue sometimes
I could've sworn they passed a law a couple years ago that streaming services had to provide subtitles for their content. If subs are available, I choose subs.
When I used to burn movies, I'd always burn 'em with subs.
There are TOO many times in movies where the dialogue gets really low due to the nature of the scene or at times when someone pops out of nowhere and just blathers some madness that has you going "Wha?" and I be staying a few minutes trying to work out what he said based off the conversation.
Tv shows and what's not I can live without subs, but movies I watch/burn it's a must for me personally. I mean it's to the point where Netflix pisses me off at times 'cause they hardly cater to folk that like and really need that shyt.
THIS!!! This is a HUGE reason I prefer watching movies at home over at Theaters.I don't remember why, or when I started, but yes. It's basically essential for me now. It's part of why I prefer seeing films at home now as opposed to in theatres unless it's like something that's enhanced by viewing it in the theatre.

What Netflix shows don't have subtitles? I've yet to run across thisEven though I'm piggybacking on the mute folk that would benefit from something like this, it really should be an option up to this point. It's damn near inexcusable for current shyt to be released without it. But Netflix is it's own boss it seems. Someone once told me that it would be hell to get that done because of how much content they put on and take off respectfully, but fukk it, y'all ain't doing it for free.
Pretty sure it's illegal to not offer captions within the United StatesEven though I'm piggybacking on the mute folk that would benefit from something like this, it really should be an option up to this point.
