Do you think they should have stopped over the edge after Owen died?

Hell yeah they should had cancelled the show....I remember hearing the news on the today show when I was getting ready for school and my mama was like

They didn't end the show after he died? :dahell:

I was sad as fukk because I liked Owen but even then I knew that stunt was stupid and should had never been attempted.
:damn:

Til this day i haven't watched that ppv and I refuse to.

I watched the PPV during one of those free periods they’d give the Network out for free for a month or two for the first time since it aired. It was awkward, to say the least, seeing the show go on after that. I can’t imagine having to work after seeing a friend/colleague/etc. suffer that fate. I think I’ve got the bootleg VHS somewhere around here because I remember watching the show at the time, and seeing the news reports the next day before school.

I’ve asked that same question on other sites throughout the years. I remember someone saying that Owen worked Badd Blood even after Pillman died. Which, I get what they were getting at, but neither were in the same ballpark. The show should’ve ended after Owen’s accident, they could’ve just booked everything else for future RAW’s.

that RAW was haaaarrrrddddd to watch
Even on the Network, It still feels so surreal and almost immediately flashed back to that live airing with a 8 year old me realizing Owen was really gone (heard about it all day earlier). I’m sure the weed I smoked before I clicked play on that Raw didn’t help matters during the tribute video and the testimonials :francis: :mjcry:

I tend to agree with Bret that Raw is Owen should’ve been a 2 hour marathon of Owen matches instead of having everyone who is still grieving on camera and the heavy/weird atmosphere

i'm just glad for the most part not much really has leaked from that night in terms of pictures/videos

Lord knows what people woulda been posting all over the place had that happened during the smartphone era

I wouldn't have had the heart to ask the wrestlers to work after seeing that happen to one of their brothers,

the "fans" woulda just had to understand.

I still haven't watched that event since it aired, knowing there was a blood stain on the mat almost ensures I likely won't anytime soon.
That day no camera's where permitted but apparently, there was a 10-second video circulating online at the time but it seem's that it will never surface again.

According to Wreddit, IWC reaction to Raw is Owen from that time was depressing and that some of the wrestlers reactions seemed insincere due to the fact that some never rocked with Owen/Owen didn’t rock with them. Most notable of these was Stone Cold who was known to not think very fondly of Owen prior. Stone Cold was hyped all night by JR (on a Raw in tribute to Owen) and was saved for the end of the show. SCSA did a toast to the Owen pic, and said not one word in his closing segment

HHH was another who was called into question knowing his role in Montreal and how Bret and his wife felt about HHH. I feel HHH was genuine as Owen was one of the people who initially got HHH over (Owen, Foley, Rock). After he beat Al Snow, HHH yelled at the hard cam and eventually had to turn away before he started crying

fukk now I’m getting all teary eyed :mjcry:

It's fukked up but if I'm Vince I'm continuing with the show. Being that it was PPV it's not as easy as just refunding the people money. If it was a non-PPV that would be much easier as just eating the costs on the live crowd. But with PPV they would have the PPV companies to answer to as they would owe them their portion of the buyrates and the PPV companies like wouldn't be as ethical and let the WWE off the hook because someone died. Rather than deal with the legal headaches and all the money I'd rather just be seen as heartless and continue on with a bad show. But to try and right that wrong I would've donated all the proceeds from the show to Owen's family so at least continuing the show would be for a great cause.

I LIVE IN A CARDBOARD BOX!
Until today, I’ve never seen Over The Edge 1999 in its entirety. It’s crazy to me how everyone maintained their professionalism after Owen died

I ran back Raw is Owen today too and those testimonials made it incredibly sad to watch

Mark Henry :mjcry:

Jeff Jarrett :mjcry:

Road Dogg :mjcry:

Debra :mjcry:

Foley saying his son got his haircut like Owen and how overjoyed he was. :mjcry:

I remember that I was in the AOL WWF chat the night that Owen died. There was close to 15 chats open. I don't think I ever saw that again.

I know JR and King told the viewers at home that Owen had died ... but was the message relayed to the fans?

I feel like that might have something to do with them continuing the show.

Personally, I don't think I could have said to keep going with it.
