do you think the WWE 'botched' 2011 Summer of Punk and 2014 Daniel Bryan?

as in didnt book it completely?IMO, the only storylines to reach mainstream attention post-attitude era, if you throw in Vince limo explosion.

cm punk came back too soon and was booked like a loser for most of his record reign, in part due to WWE's obsession with rock/cena

daniel bryan they tried to squash him and put him in WM only after Punk quit. even then he produced the loudest pops since austin / rock

a year later, bryan is getting tossed out the royal rumble like he aint shyt

Punk should've shown up everywhere with the title...

He was red hot
Just beat their golden boy
He can talk/ is charismatic
Etc.

He should've been on Kimmel and GMA and he should've shown up at ROH and in NJPW with the title...

They should've had Punk off TV until someone won the rumble and then had his music hit... could've been amazing

They deliberately sabotaged the both of them. No debates about that. They were the next two major stars on the horizon, and :flabbyvince: didn't want that because he didn't hand pick them and their mainstream popularity meant that he wouldn't have 100% of the bargaining power at the negotiating table.

Punk shouldn't of comeback/made an appearance till Night of Champions. Interfering in the match and costing either or both Cena/Del Rio the match and saying how can you have a PPV, named NOC without the real WWE Champion. Punk would cut a promo next night in Raw, sticking with the anti establishment/pipebomb and saying Vince when he doesn't get what he wants, tries to rewrite history.

Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: shyts complicated on Bryan's end, but I'm still going with yes. But it's not like it's nothing new, though. Unless you're someone Vince KNOWS he has it in on like Cena, he's gonna neuter the potential drawing power of the majority of his roster, intentionally or through incompetent booking.

Yes, I loved that Punk came back with his ROH theme but it was way too early. If they would've let Punk defend the belt in various small promotions, operate as his own man for a couple months then things would've been a lot better, let Cena & Mysterio battle at SummerSlam then have Del Rio cash in, having Del Rio & Cena fight at NOC, Cena wins, at the end of the match, Punk comes out and says that he's back. Cena says that Punk walked out and that he's the real champ so he continues to defend it at Vengeance and Hell in a Cell. That Rock & Cena tag can wait so we get Cena/Punk II at Survivor Series for the Undisputed WWE title.

Never claimed to be a fantasy booker but anything without Triple H interfering would've been great, they could've just had Triple H mysteriously attacked backstage at SummerSlam and it turns out to be Kevin Nash and they can have their flabby fall feud, no Punk or Cena involved.

Yes....

Summer of Punk should have led a revolution and helped pull the WWE from the slump it was going through, but NOPE:francis:. Triple H being showhorn'ed into the storyline, Del Rio cashing in the MITB on Punk within a few weeks, Kevin Nash:flabbynsick:, Punk turning face :gucci:, and so forth. The writing was on the wall of how the WWE didn't want to embrace the changes that were occurring. Dude had every media outlet looking at him and the company, hell sponsors were throwing money at him just because of the pipebomb...but WWE kept cutting off a potential revolution in "sports entertainment" due to stubbornness and so forth.

The Daniel Bryan story is like a modern day Greek tragedy. Dude was everything that the crowd wanted and thensome, but it never popped off because of the WWE's foolishness. Not only they actually put a hit on dude (look at some of those matches during his road to WM and even after the road), but they threw everything at him to kill his momentium (making him a Wyatt, Team Hell No, saying No to the yes chants, putting Brie in the ring with him, and so forth). Bryne was suppose to be like the modern day Steamboat with a personality overload, but.....WWE:comeon:.

Just thinking about those potential movements making me depressed now:mjcry:

The two of them, rob van dam, Christian, and booker could've been megastars. Maybe Jericho too. All of them were kneecapped by awful booking designed to keep them from peaking.

Well I don't necessarily think they buried Bryan since they eventually did give the fans what they wanted, a wrestlemania main event win and him holding both titles. Injuries were the main point of concern. Heck, wasn't he supposed to also main event Summerslam against Lesnar?

They could have handled Punk's pipebomb run whole lot better. I guess HHH really wanted that spotlight though. and why the hell did they feel the need to put Nash on HHH? HHH/Punk turned into Nash/Punk and then HHH/Nash. Did HHH feel the need to use Punk just for the eventual HHH/Nash match? Bullshyt booking.

lol, they fukked CM Punk right from the beginning, they thought it was a good idea to get pinned by Triple H, he had to take the pinfall during that random tag match between him/hunter vs miz & R-truth and he was basically a martyr used to exceed the Kevin Nash/Hunter feud (who the fukk remembers that travesty :stopitslime:) that period from Summerslam to Survivor Series was garbage, I remember they gave the belt to Alberto only for him to drop it twice in under 2 months for nothing.
