Yea but most of those movies from back in the day at least had a decent plot with actors who could actually act. Now every movie has some teeny bopper actor or a musician turned actor starring in it to attract young people. These actors nowadays have no talent. Thats why movies rely on cgi so much. And dont get me started with trying to find a good story. Its damm near impossible outside of arthouse films and film festival picks. Why do you think 50% of movies being released these days are remakes or reboots. No one in hollywood has an orginal idea to save their life. Same things can be said about music.

Godzilla was good and not dogshyt....only seen it criticized on the internet...everyone that I've talked to off the net that saw it liked it....

please. you comin over here scoffin at us cause we didn't like the movie... as if to suggest that us lowly internet forum posters weren't as sophisticated as you and your real life acquaintances that did.
so i say again... i'm glad you enjoyed the movie.
I didn't scoff at yall nor suggest anything, just stated my opinion on the movie (it was good, not dogshyt) and what I've seen in regards to it (only being criticized on the internet)....how you took that, I have nothing to do with....

Yes but your ignoring what I'm saying about the actors? None of these movies will age well cause the acting sucks. Yea you go to the movies and are blown away by the cgi but after its done you dont feel like you need to watch it ever again. Ie Avatar, The Avengers and every super hero movie thats come out post 2000 minus the dark knight trilogy. Acting is key.

there are plenty of movies being released with cgi effects that feature good character, good story, and good acting.
you're takin the "back in my day" thing a little too far. hollywood was churning out shyt back then too. it was common practice back then just as it is now.

Why dont you name some movies so we can actually have a debate. You are just talking like you're right with no proof. You cant name any great movies with cgi cause there are next to none.

what's the point. we obviously have different views on what makes a great movie so i don't imagine we'll be able to agree. but in the interest of fairness and debate, fine i will humor you.
most recent example would be dawn of the apes.
great cgi, great story, great characters, great action, great everything.
not everything needs to be a complex human drama. it was simple story told effectively and that's what made it a great movie.
