I know the question is about horror movies but I think it’s relatable to the music debate since they’re both artistic outlets that we’re not supposed to take as reality. Some people believe the rise in popularity of drill music coincides with rise in violence in the streets especially with the younger kids. I think it’s solely dependent on the individuals surroundings/mental state/support system or lack thereof. So someone that’s depressed in life already with no friends or positive outlets could watch mad horror movies and the energy from it will effect them to a greater level than somebody whose life for the most part is going well. The energy is still there regardless but on it’s own it’s not strong enough to have a lasting/altering effect on their behavior. To me the same can be said about music and certain drugs. Besides just genetics studies have shown the difference between a casual drug user or a functioning addict and an addict that’s life is in shambles is the quality of their life outside of the drug.
