Halo 3 was the best of the trilogy if you want to get into it. But it’s worth it to play all 3.OT but I have never played a halo game outside of trying to play halo 5 a couple times and I was underwhelmed both times and just bailed on the game…what is a definitive game in the series that will still hold up today that I should checkout?
from what I’ve gathered on my own I should either start with halo: combat evolved or halo 3
thanks for any input in advance

Halo is many things. It's big team battle, griff ball, 1flag objective, spray and pray AR/SMG start. If any of that appealing to you, Halo 2, 3, Reach, Halo 4 is for you.
If you like competitive style play with a deadly precision weapon start, arena style maps with focus on controlling power weapon and power ups, then go for Halo 5.
it wouldn’t be for the MP…strictly campaign

I hear you on a season pass, but I'd assume that's a different "count" because that doesn't tell you how many ppl are playing a free to play game itself which I believe was the issue? (it's been a few days)I bought season pass, content/skins on Fortnite, League Of Legends, but I'm not sure how this is going to work with a FPS where you don't see your Spartan.
