Do You Personally Take NFL Records Seriously That's Broken In This 17 Game Schedule?

One’s not really better than the other.

Sure the other record took fewer games, but they didn’t have to play against the 5 of the top-ranked defenses this season. Some twice.

Dude would’ve shattered that record if they had a fluff schedule. Gotta give the rookie credit.

If they had a fluff schedule, they would've been winning more games by more points, and therefore probably passing a lot less :ld:

Moral is there are too many variables to nitpick why or how someone breaks records, just appreciate witnessing greatness :hubie:

College football's record books are all messed up from all the changes over the years, everybody still knows who the GOATs are as opposed to those who have a record and are just answers to some trivia questions.

Dude was probably playing aganist highschool teams in 1960. Pua's is more impressive imo
That's what gets me. If you can "place an asterisk" next to any of these modern day record-holders for taking more games to break them, then you can place the same asterisk on the previous record holders for setting them while playing against inferior competition. :manny:

Seems like some wide receivers could’ve benefited by playing with Matt Stafford. I barely know this dude and he’s about to break this old ass record lol. He ain’t doing that on any other team

Always gotta change/evolve with the times....That's what the history books, documentaries and all of that is for. No one is gonna completely forget the yesteryear. But it's these new mfs time now.

Before the whole "asterisk" thing implied cheating/being illegitimate it was literally used for contexts like this tho

Anybody else here :flabbynsick: and have a sports almanac back in the day? You look at a records table, its full of asterisks for context about things like season length, leagues merging and expending etc
For example, the bubble chip from a couple years ago would have qualified. Yet posters get in their feelings when you call it that.

As for the thread, yes, every record broken because of the extra game should have an asterisk . As in on the literal wk17. This Puka situation is the perfect example

But then, how long do we go on adding asterisks if say this becomes the schedule for say, the next 20 years with the 17 games?

Either way, none of it in my mind is to discredit, and I think thats where the contention comes from. But you have to qualify these things to not run the risk of recency biases
