I feel like the new TVs make SD look worse than it actually was. I was pretty late to getting an HD TV...like 2011. And as soon as I got it SD was unwatchable
this is true. SD TV's or tube TV's handle that stuff way better than 1080p and 4k tvs. i hooked up a super Nintendo to my 4k tv a few months ago and it was a blurry mess. Had an old flat screen sony tube tv I was using in the basement that my pops gave me a when i went to college (keep in mind i haven't even turned this tv on in like 6 or 7 years either) first of all it worked, and second of all my super Nintendo looked perfectly fine on it. it's only because upscaling always makes pictures look soft and you're talking trying to stretch 240p or 480p all the way to 2160p, you lose all kinds of detail that way. Hell 720p on a 4k is almost unbearable unless you have a really high end 4k tv that upscales teal well. I got rid of a 1080p Samsung and got a 43 inch 5 series tcl, and it actually handles sd pretty well.
HDTV and YouTube make 90s sports highlights look like they are from the 70s. It's not accurate to how it looked at all at the time.
Sometimes I want to buy an old tube tv to remember what stuff actually looked like in its day. I remember being floored by Dreamcast graphics and Mario 64 the first time.
How much of a difference do you see?Yes and no. While I'm adjusted to 4K my eyes have no problem watching 1080P.

Quite a diff. Hdr is the shytHow much of a difference do you see?
Something similar happened to me. I got used to my roommate's HD TV and watching sports on it. After seeing the difference between that and my SD I had to get an HD TV. Which was funny considering how for years I was always on the tip of the visuals not mattering that much until I saw the difference up close. Same happened with my aunt. Her daughters husband was living with them and had an HDTV. After a long time of me trying to convince her to upgrade it took him living there for her to make the change once he moved.I will never forget the night I watched a football game over my pops house in HD for the first time the vivid picture made my eyes tingle I went home and turned on my 36in toshiba and immediately turned it back off I made damn sure to grind and save enough money to get my first HDTV ASAP
