Do you let reviews affect your purchase/viewership?

i NEVER let ANYONES opinion sway me to listen/play/watch anything. Soul Plane is one of my fav movies and that got shytted on by everyone. Kane & Lynch 2 wasnt reviewed very positively yet i enjoyed it immensely. fukk an opinion

I respect movie reviews to a degree. If something at RT is sitting at 23% you're going to tell me it's not garbage? It probably is.

With that said, the system is a bit flawed because if something is sitting at like 87% it tricks you into thinking that everyone loves it and it's a classic but all it means is that portion of the critics at least "like" it or thought it was "ok".

I remember seeing Chronicle at like 86% or something and we ended up going to see it based on that alone. I read a couple reviews too. I don't just look at the number..

but.. it wasn't all that. It was ok but fell apart near the end in my view. So I left disappointed. If I hadn't seen that number than I would probably think it was better based off no expectations.

If something gets really good reviews, chances are ill check it out. If I'm interested in a movie and then the reviews are bad it wont discourage my desire to see it.

when it comes to video games I have stopped listening to reviews. I'll just wait for the price to drop and cop whatever catches my eye.

this gen you cant takee these reviewers seriously. these dudes dont play these games. a few game studios have been calling them out too.

Movies I rarely look at reviews, but for games I will look for reviews by people that actually paid and played the game. Game magazines and sites get to much money from game companies for them to be impartial.

Nah everybody shytted on The Three Stooges movie and I loved it, but I'm a Stooge head so it doesn't matter. I'll usually borrow games from my nephews since they play almost anything.

when it comes to games i look at reviews. But with shows and movies i am the judge.

It depends.

The main thing I use reviews for is to put me on to things I otherwise wouldn't have know about or given a chance. If I see a movie got good reviews I'll check it out based off of the good reviews and then formulate my own opinion on it. I've been put on to A LOT of good movies and played a lot of good games because of reviews. And I also noticed that most of the time I end agreeing with the reviews in the end whether their good or bad.

With that said, there have been plenty of good movies and video games that got bad reviews that I thoroughly enjoyed and vice versa.
