Seth just...I dunno. I feel like he's a great worker but in this age where WWE has a ton of great workers it's becoming more about having an easily recognizable style than it is an "efficient" one. And of course, great work rarely draws alone anyways (Has it ever in the Fed?) He's clearly got one of the best MOTORS in the Fed, but I can't really recall much PERSONALITY in his moveset, and that doesn't seem to cut it anymore. Does he have a Phenomenal Forearm type of instant pop move? Nakamura is an extreme but look at him with his knees; his entire moveset is a meme. Roman and Dean have their own shyt, Roman's stuff goes without saying, but even Dean has his wack ass bounce-clothesline thing and wack one-handed punches. Dean's wrestling kinda sucks, but y'all KNOW which moves I'm talking about. His lack of athleticism kind of makes him stick out and unique, and it's consistent with his characterization (Which I think needs to change, but more on that later).
Taking away the curb stomp really hurt Seth. That was signature, deadly, and anticipated EVERY match. The Phoenix Splash is considerably less engaging than the Curb Stomp. The only thing I can say is that, if they ever need an instant-giant pop type of moment for him, they have one in the pocket. People would love to see him hit that on someone disliked.
And many are still probably dealing with PTSD from his horrible 25 minute intro promo era. Dear lord did The Authority association hurt him. Add in time for injury time off, and a horrible Triple H feud...it's no wonder people are down on him.
In regards to Dean...I know it's the reality era/kayfabe is dead/business exposed/etc etc etc...but I still believe that certain characters in certain situations need to try and keep cognitive dissonance to a minimum. I think they nee do drop "lunatic fringe" completely. Dude is married to a hot blonde and on TD....
These critiques don't speak much to his performance as much as they speak to his "aura" and why some may be down on him. The Dean Ambrose brand is mad splinted right now.
I still like his overall cadence on the mic, but that's about it.
Say what you want about Roman's booking, but there's not much dissonance with his character on Raw (Except for when they try to make it seem like he's an "underdog"....
![snoop :snoop: :snoop:](https://www.thecoli.com/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/snoop.png)
). It seems like his profile is relatively low, and his character is easy to understand (Bad ass Ace) so it's easier to buy into him. His gimmick might be simple, but it's effective.
TLDR : Roman shows more personality in the ring than Seth and his character is more believable than Dean's.
