Do you ever choose other races in rpgs?

I played a Drow in my main BG3 playthrough because they seemed to be the nikkas of their universe if that makes any sense. I described them as the nikka elves to a friend when he was starting the game and asked me what race I picked. (Neither of us are DnD guys) He knew exactly what I meant when he found them in the menu lol.

There are so many things problematic with this statement if you know the lore. It's borderline a slight against Black people

The Gith make better negroes than the Drow.

I'll play a Black character but I will tend to use elves depending on the game because I prefer a magic, finesse type of character.
