I just learned about it today. What is wrong with people?
Usually you see this in the anime/JRPG community a lot when with the choice of male or female avatar they more commonly choose the female. Even tho the character is meant for self insert. Granted if you have cases like Fire Emblem where the male and female from a gameplay aspect in terms of classes, which technically could offer a different experience. Or the case you get a different voice actor and see how they do in emotional scenes.

Tho admittly to me its more weird here since you can fully customize the character. Especially if your character that you make is basically a self insert mute essentially where the only difference is you romance a guy if you play as female. That's kinda :dame:

Personally I just rock with the male avatar or just make it like me because that's the whole point from a gameplay design.

Yea most of the time. It's only recently I started making fictional/random people. When games started marketing their character creator in magazines the object was putting yourself I the game so I've more or less followed that ideology since

Tried a few times but I'd give up and try to make someone that looks cool/unique or I'm trying to make it look better than the default character model.

While my canon playthroughs are according to my morals and personality I don't try to put myself into these characters on some weird isekai shyt.
