Poor blue collar work never felt like much of a competition to me.
If your dream is to pick strawberries somewhere that is a much more attainable goal than becoming an doctor or lawyer.
Nobody struggles to find shytty jobs. They struggle to find the good jobs. No amount of poor black people or immigrants is going to prevent a poor white teenager from finding work at a Mcdonalds, or grown white laborer to find work unloading a truck somewhere.
The problem is people want to get paid as much as possible for their job. And poor whites have been convinced that getting rid of the "competition"
will force business to increase wages. So much so they support a political party that is opposed to the government increasing minimum wages, just to spite lower income people who don't share their complexion for "taking their jobs". Ironic
