Do plants and (non human) animals have "souls"?

Dont care whether they have a soul or not. They taste good, thats all that matters

i wouldn't know, breh. i don't eat chinese nor do i eat meat. DIY
it's interesting being open enough to participate in a metaphysical conversation dealing with "souls," but yet totally dismiss the idea of plants or animals having "souls." there's just as much physical evidence that plants and animals have a soul as there is that souls exist, that is to say zero.
how do you know plants and animals dont have "souls?"
how do you know such a thing as "souls" even exist?

So, what is "a soul"?
Anyway, saying that animals and plants are somewhat less "intelligent" or have no "conscience" or whatever is just taking for granted that human "intelligence" and "consciece" is the only measurement stick. Which is quite arrogant and typically human. Plants and animals eat and reproduce, they develop defence mechanisms against predators, "sleep" and "wake up", adapt to their environment, etc. When you look on the bigger scale, we're probably the only species who does not adapt to our environment and actually actively destroys it.
