Do people realize Scarlett Johansson is a horrible actress?

Rock is a good actor. Better than scarjo

I mean just look at the emotion in that gif

And the breakout personality in wrestling to get him to movies. When 100000000 other wrestlers tried. Then to flip that into acting. Then voice acting.

I mean I'm not saying he's al pachino. But he has his niche and stays there. He can play goofy guy and tough bad ass. Then go be playful and do moana or some shyt

It's not like he's dolph lungren

Rock has that charisma & it on screen though. When he does shyt like the Run Down & Walking Tall, he kills it imo. A likeable badass with a sense of humor. I don't really see any criticisms for dude as long as he stays in his lane.

The Rock can play the badass role his entire career and never worry. Even Ballers works because he's not being asked to do anything more than the cats on Entourage had to do. But he's not winning any Emmys or Oscars any time soon. There's nothing wrong with that, but I was jut making a joke about male actors needing skill to be successful

I get what you're saying. He's not Denzel or Sam with the acting, but not many can do what he does either. Big box office charisma is a skill to me also, not many can pull it off. In fact, there are probably more greatly skilled actors in the business, than dudes with the charisma, charm, and good enough acting skills to carry a blockbuster type move.

I can agree with that. That's why I'm always arguing for dudes like Pitt, Clooney, and Cruise to get more respect because they all can do both of the things you mentioned

I think she's occupying that Angelina Jolie void or at least, that's what it looks like they want to me.

How many other women do they have as leading in non-franchise action movies that actually do well in the box office?

Jennifer Lawrence was doing a franchise.
Mila Jovovich had a franchise (is Resident Evil over?)
Kate Beckinsale rocks the Underworld franchise
Zoe Saldana is on the wrong end of 30, but they seemed to try with her. Remember "Colombiana"?

The last time I recall them putting a lot of money behind a non-franchise female led film was "Salt" with Angelina Jolie.

Now, they've got it with Scarlett Johansson with "Lucy" and "Ghost In a Shell" (to a somewhat lesser degree since there's a niche crowd there, but still).

She's young, visible, familiar enough, appeals to a good amount of demos, and action isn't out of the ordinary since she's basically been the female face of this last Marvel phase.
