Do People Not Realize How Utterly Stupid They Sound Chanting "Percocet!!!! Molly, Percocet!!!!"?

Like when Beanie Sigel talked about pills, xanax, and percs, mixed with lean, he rarely made it seem "cool", you can feel it in the music, and watching his life spiral out of control, that he was lost in it. There was some bragging and glorification, but it was more mixed with tracks where he described how dark it had all got for him.

Shyne, talked about doing coke, but never made it seem really cool, it was again, like a way he dealt with his life careening out of control, and all the ugliness and demons that consumed him.

I would never say rappers of earlier years didn't glorify, or promote their own drug use, but it wasn't done in this way. It wasn't casually suggested and blatantly discussed, as if it was something to aspire to. That's how I see Future's track. It's a glossy glamorization of addiction, with VERY little to counter that, in his music.

Edit: I realize that also, as artists, they were on very different tiers, Shyne and Sigel would have never got play in an upscale club even in their prime. But, honestly, it's not just about the club.

Molly is a wonderful drug. :ahh: dunno about Percocets tho :patrice:

Great drug to go with a great song. :manny:

obviously you wasnt around during the early 2000s

that Molly Percocet song aint shyt compared to any of the Thizz Nation songs released back then and even a year or two after Mac Dre died, up until the drug investigation on Thizz Nation

for those not clear on Bay slang. Thizz = Molly

Those songs definitely influenced my friends,or at least provided a very influential soundtrack, when they were caught up in the E phase, of their and my various drug addictions....I never did E, but I heard all of the Mac Dre/Thizz Camp songs over and over, during all night, all week ectascy binges, this was in 2005.

I do think, how mainstream and accessible Future's songs were is a major difference. No one was playing Mac Dre in San Diego radio, national tv, or local clubs. For sure, it was everywhere in the Bay, but not elsewhere. "Mask Off" is #18 in the country.

Mac dre did reach the charts tho. maybe not that high but he did get 3 different years on it.

Mac Dre - Chart history | Billboard

not to mention people were always shouting out the whole hyphy movement and mac dre throughout the early/mid 2000s. like MIMS and Lil Jon.

nikkas is really caping for this shyt.:gucci:
I'm a Future fan and I fukks wit mask off heavy but there is no way Imma act like this song and songs like this aren't on some demonic shyt.
Song called Mask off with a addictive repetitive hook about robbery, drugs, chasing money and dismissing "bytches" shouldn't be what kids is out here bumping back to back.
Same wit the "fukk for Free" shyt by your favorite fraud rapper.
But what do I know.:manny:

Them Lo Lifes...
Future is actually speaking to a specific demongraphic of listeners..

Its cats who actually live what Future is rapping about..

Those are the people he makes drug/trap raps for.

Everybody else is hopping on the dilznick..
