Do Atheists truly desire a completly Godless society?

I mean, is it the dream of Atheists to exist in a world where people have no moral code or higher being that they look up to? Most humans are depraved and wicked naturally I believe. If you look on various godless societies like the ancient Roman empire, their way of life was replete will all kinds of heinous and evil behaviours that would make and decent man shudder. From homosexuality, murder, pedofilia, to beastiality it was all fair game and apart of everyday culture.

More modern examples can be seen in the societies of the Soviet Union, Nazi Germany, China. Each of the aformentioned countries were well known godless societies that have numerous examples of outrageous atrocities and human rights violations.

No as to which God is best, that is somethign I cant answer. But it can't be coincidental that societies that have a general basis in religion tend to be more stable and long lasting.

i think that "morality" as a product of religion is . instead of forming opinions for themselves, people think they're pleasing their 'creator' by their actions. for example, if someone tels me theyre against stem cell/abortions because its wrong, then fine. but as soon as they bring god into it, then theyre a fukkin idiot.

Another fallacy. Please explain how Germany under Hitler was Godless? We are talking about a deeply Catholic and deeply Protestant country, a country in which Christianity in the strictest sense was a constant in your life from the moment you were born. And this sense of discipline and paternalism allowed Hitler to create his cult of personality 'Father of the Nation' shyt with considerable ease. Have you ever heard the saying of how the SS was brimming with Catholic school boys?
