What's the better place to live? :manny: I know the whole DC metro area is similar but I'm sure there's some differences I wouldn't know cuz I never lived there. I just got a job where ima be workin in NoVA. I been house hunting and although it's mostly expensive af, I've seen stuff in my price range if I commute either from MD or live a little farther out in VA

i just moved out here 6 months ago from jersey. I'm in arlington Va. Its not too bad. 5 mins away from dc. cool downtown area with bars and stuff, lots of chicks walking around. But the prices for housing are  DC is even worse cuz most places u gotta pay almost a 100/month for parking.

need more information - can you telework at your job, or do you have any flexibility in the hours u work? do you have kids? if so, will you be sending them to public school? how often are you trying to go out in dc? how long of a commute can you deal with? how much does diversity matter? safety? etc?

Gaithersburg, Germantown, Rockville MD are your best options. I been in this area for a while now. Good spots that are affordable

NOVA is okay, has a lot of stuff, but it just seem artificial, houses right next to highways, and beltway. Something about NOVA seems so unnatural.

As for MD, Rockvillle, Downtown Silver Spring, Bethesda, Hyattsvile(close to PG Metro) are great, if you can afford them, or find something reasonably cheap.

But Germantown, Gaithersburg, deep Rockville, deep PG county, fukk no.

I lived in Arlington and loved it. Real safe, shopping and cool restaurant/bar areas. Easy access into DC (stayed near clarendon, took me 7 minites to het to downtown dc or georgetown, id get there faster than my girls who stayed in dc proper) and to the freeways, lots of parks and Four Mile Run hiking/biking trail was :blessed: I liked NOVA more than MD but it does have fewer black folks - not that it matters since DC is the social hub and easy to get to. I rented so I can't holler about the housing prices, I think Alexandria is less expensive and still pretty close to DC but if you have to go out to fairfax or something, then MD might be a better choice. Overall, I'd say stay in nova tho, the extra hassle of getting through traffic from MD to VA to get to work isn't worth it. I stayed. In DC when I first got there and just getting out of the city added 20 minutes to my commute.

more details breh,

In a study based on household income estimates from the Census Bureau’s American Community Survey, Loudoun County, Virginia captures the number one spot in America’s Richest Counties.
Loudoun County is a Washington, D.C. suburb and is home to Dulles International Airport, as well as a well-educated workforce.

The complete Top 10 list of America’s Richest Counties :
Loudoun County, Virginia ($115,574)
Falls Church City, Virginia ($114,409)
Fairfax County, Virginia ($105,416)
Los Alamos County, New Mexico ($103,643)
Howard County, Maryland ($103,273)
Hunterdon County, New Jersey ($100,980)
Douglas County, Colorado ($99,198)
Fairfax City, Virginia ($97,900)
Somerset County, New Jersey ($97,440)
Morris County, New Jersey ($96,747)

As a region, it’s estimated that 40% of the Washington, D.C. metro area economy can be attributed to federal spending. This helps explain why Falls Church City, Virginia; Fairfax County, Virginia; and Howard County, Maryland all scored high on the list. It’s also why Los Alamos ranked 4 — the largest employer in Los Alamos is the Los Alamos National Laboratory, one of the largest science and technology institutes in the world.
The New Jersey counties are popular commuter areas for homeowners who work in New York City.

As a home buyer in Brooklyn, NY , the wealth of particular area may matter to you, but it won’t be the sole reason you purchase. You may have interest in a quality school district, or a vibrant nightlife, or a a high walkability factor, for example.

For more detailed statistics about the 10 counties at top or other local markets, be sure to ask your real estate agent.

Idk what my hours will be yet but I don't think it'll be too flexible. I have a 3 year old son that will go to school. Idk how often I will go to DC but I'm assuming maybe weekly? I ls like my commute to be 30 mins or less, I will be working in the Springfield area, and diversity doesn't matter I guess
