PERFECT CHOICE if Steven Spielberg didn't do it. Abrams embodies the Lucas/Spielberg era perfectly. Yes I know Trekies aren't going to be happy, he's there guy but why would Abrams give up a chance to be apart of the biggest franchise in Movie History? I'm very happy with this choice, the movie is going to break major records when it is released.

No, Vaughn is decent but Abrams is trying to get to Steven, Lucas status. He's trying to be a Top Director in the game. "Into Darkness" is about to smash sh!t this summer than he will have Episode VII. I don't know of Vaughn could of caught the same vibe that Abrams will. Abrams did "Super 8" which was basically a Spielberg homage film.

He understands that style and era. If Steven Spielberg didn't do it, I wanted Abrams but I figured it wasn't going to happen cause he was apart of the Star Trek Series but I'm sure Abrams feels Star Wars is just something that comes along once in a lifetime. He was the right and better choice to pass "Star Wars" to a new generation. Look at what he did for "Star Trek", he actually brought in a whole new fanbase with his version. So again I like Vaughn, but JJ was the better choice.

You old ass nikkas need to stop ya whining. Us young nikkas who ain't never seen the original star wars movies cause the CGI was so bad deserve to hear the story using todays superior technology. Maybe I'll watch it now. But you ain't gonna get me to watch the lame ass movies from the 70s.

For the most part, the Star Wars trilogy contains some of the GREATEST special effects ever shown on screen. You missing out.

wtf is this shyt. when did influence = connection. You could do this with any work of fiction.

Because people got their starts and experience from Star Wars to go on and do bigger things and influence people who influeneced people. There are people who wouldnt even be born right now if it wasnt for star wars. Then again, there are people who wouldnt be born if it wasnt for someone reading this post at the moment in time.
