I'd let him walk if $25 million is his asking price and let Shannon take over First Take.

Everything else he does can be replaced on a by committee basis as he wasn't moving the needle on Countdown like that.

His schtick just doesn't work outside of the sports world to justify his asking price, so if someone else wants to offer him that, then so be it.

Luckily you post on the coli and don't make those decisions

There’s track record of his non-sports endeavors flopping.

His Disney+ show flopped and his podcast did as well hence him having to change the name.

$25 million is entertainment level bread and the casual audience has shown they don’t care about sports like that. They don't view him on the level of people like Kelly Ripa, Roberts and Strahan who command that type of bread.

$25 million is on a different level bread. That's bigger than sports type money.

He's going to have to put in more work than just on FT to justify that as his podcast don't benefit ESPN.

It’s a reason why he’s desperately trying to expand outside of sports because that’s where the money really is.

Wait to the haters find out what ESPN are paying Troy Aikman, Joe Buck, and Greenberg

SAS compared to his colleagues is underpaid
Seems like football people get more, perhaps cause football is much bigger. Also seems like it’s mostly commentators and not on air personalities getting the big bucks

Apparently Strahan gets 17 :wow:

Can’t see Perkins getting close to that.

I've been saying for months Stephen A could be somewhere else next year. Is 25 million a shytload of money? Yes, of course. But if McAfee is getting 30 million (I understand he pays for his production out of that) Stephen A is worth more. Because McAfee's show hasn't set the world on fire for ESPN ratings.

Would FS1, Amazon, Netflix, Peacock, or Apple be willing to pay Stephen A 25 or 30 million? I think so. Because FOR THEM, he would be a huge boost in their sports programming world.
