Director Debate 1: Michael Mann's best film is....

If this is popular enough, I hope to do more of them....this is probably an odd choice to start, but I rewatched 3 of his films in the last couple of weeks, so here goes....

Thief (1981)

Manhunter (1986)

The Last Of The Mohicans (1992)

Heat (1995)

The Insider (1999)

Ali (2001)

Collateral (2004)

Miami Vice (2006)

Public Enemies (2009)

So.......what says The Coli?

Yes, I think Heat is one of the most overrated films in the last couple decades

Insider is dope, very well directed. Might have to agree.

Heat is most entertaining tho.

Last couple of flicks havent done much for me. Never liked collateral nor public enemies.

Thief and manhunter are mad underrated.

I'm guessing that will be the case for many posters...but I'd suggest doing so if you get the chance...and it's on Netflix instant now too.

One of James Caan's best performances and a much tighter, better told story than Heat imo. It doesn't LOOK as good as Heat...but it's a fantastic film.

Thinking about his films though all of them seem consistently above average nothing more nothing less. I don't consider anything he has done great and likewise none of them have been shyt to me.

I thought collateral was very weak, and the insider is good, but not really heat good.

I hated Public Enemies when I saw it opening weekend....was disgusted. Watched again a few days ago, liked it a lot more actually. It's still not a very good film, but it wasn't as bad as I remembered it

Watched Collateral last week too...but I've seen that many many times. I think it's a damn good film with fine performances from both Foxx and Cruise. No one shoots night like Mann

I guess I'll be the one to say it, Ali was average and disappointing. The documentary When We Were Kings is much better.

I much prefer Silence Of The Lambs to Manhunter....but I know people who disagree

Thief is definitely worth a watch though and it's on Netflix
