First time I heard the song 'Bout It part 3' by Camron it just didnt feel right. Little did I know this was the introduction to NY rappers making music that sounds like its from the dirty south. The song was a promo for the movie Pain In Full which was about 80's Harlem drug dealers. Camron in 2002, on paper, sounds like the perfect person to appoint for such a task of doing a promo for a movie about 80's Harlem gangsters but the song "Bout It part 3' is a remix of a popular hip hop song from down south. As dope as it was, the song kinda came off as dik riding because it was a Master P staple. Cam coulda jacked some music from Harlemites Big L, Teddy Riley or even Mob Style. Overall, the song was more a good look for Master P, not necessarily a good look for Cam, Harlem or NY due to the origin of the song. Dipset would soon have a "throw it on the wall to see what sticks" formula where East Coast style, West coast style and Southern style would be used in their music( Tho the Certified Gangsters beat is more known for being an Eazy E beat from the West Coast song Boyz N The Hood its actually an East coast beat originally done by Whodini on the song "I'm A Ho.") Yeah Swizz played around with that southern cadance style but when Dipset dropped the song "Crunk Musik" it would seal the fate of the direction of the NY sound forever.
