yeah but does Monroe want to go to okc now? he has a no trade clause and will see a lot more minutes (and get a lot more touches) staying in Detroit. Also OKC can't get his bird rights so they wouldn't be able to keep him anyway because they would have to go over the cap to re-sign him.

Why not? If he's traded to OKC his bird rights should move with him? Or did something change in the CBA...teams would trade for a dude expiring all the time and retain the players bird rights.

he became a ufa the second he took his qualifying offer. Monroe didn't want to extend with the Pistons past his rookie deal so he accepted his 1 year qualifying offer for this season to become an unrestricted Free Agent in 2015.

That essentially ended the bird rights that the pistons had for him. Its because of the fact that he lost his bird rights when he took the qualifying offer that he also now has a no trade clause. Specifically so he couldn't just be traded to a team as a rental without his permission since if they have no ability to re-sign him and in a lot of ways be a waste of his time. Especially if he is placed on a contender and given even less opportunities to display his skill he might earn a smaller contract.

who is gonna take jr?

:mjlol:
Best move for all teams involved. Smith is a good 4th option, but I feel like the Cavs will dump him quick. They wanted Shump street :to:

Knicks needed the dump though. Phil is in the kitchen cooking up a masterpiece. They will make a run at Rondo and others.

“We've talked,” Waiters said of his new teammate. “I actually talked with LeBron before he made his decision. He called me and just told me to be ready. Be ready. I talked to him four or five days before he made his decision. He just got on the phone and said I haven't made my mind up yet but be ready.

I told him that I'm already working hard. I'll be ready. And he said, I know, I know you are. Then a few days later I read the letter. I was just really excited for the city of Cleveland. I think the city, more than anybody, deserves this. They deserve to have LeBron coming back. I think the excitement is really back in Cleveland and I'm looking forward to being a part of that.”

You guys think LeBron called Waiters a few days and ago and told him to get ready to be traded :troll:
