Any background on why he was so disliked in DC?
He apparently tried to be the leader of the locker room and the players weren’t feeling that. Montrezl Harrell was walking around like he was the leader of the team. Kuzma and KCP were just with LeBron and so they saw this dude talking like he had that kind of resume and you could see it on the court that no chemistry was there. Especially after they went 13-21 after a 10-3 start.
Wes Unseld Jr. was a rookie HC. Beal isn’t a vocal leader. Guys started throwing hands about their roles on the team. Deni Avdija was fighting Davis Bertans. Montrezl and KCP fought each other at halftime of a game they won. Kuzma of all people started to be a bridge for Wes and he took the younger guys under his wing a bit. Which I would have never thought.
So when Spencer talks about the Wizards organization being a dumpster he isn’t wrong. Tommy Sheppard thought he was slick putting games played on contract incentives for a guy returning from injury. But they gave you a $60M contract and you proceeded to shoot the same percentage as your jersey number and got benched for Raul Neto cause you could barely run and refused to sit games in return from that ACL.
Chris Miller who is now the play by play guy was the sideline reporter (and chief propagandist) for the Wizards the last 17 years since 2005-2006.
Dinwiddie is the only guy this man has taken shots at. Only guy. Right after the trade he said there were guys in the Wizards locker room who were real arrogant and didn't have the résumé.
Just think about all the knuckleheads like Blatche, Javaris C, Nick Young, etc who they’ve had over the last 17 seasons.
