Diddy assaulted Drake early Monday morning because of a feud over a song ... TMZ has learned.

As we reported, Diddy punched Drake at LIV nightclub in Miami Beach, and we were told it was because Diddy felt disrespected by the rapper, and now we know why.

Our sources say, producer Boi-1da had given both Diddy and Drake a song to record more than 8 months ago. We're told Diddy sat on the song, which frustrated Drake because he wanted to record it. So recently Drake recorded the song on his own and it did well, which pissed Diddy off.

Diddy saw Drake at LIV Monday for the first time since the song was released. Sources close to Diddy say he confronted Drake, who just blew him off, and that's when Diddy said, "You'll never disrespect me again," and then punched him.

We're told Drake ended up at an ER because in the ruckus he hit his shoulder and exacerbated an old injury.

^^^ this story makes the most sense. Puff hit Drake. Drake hurt his shoulder bad in the ruckus. The end.

Puff is a wild dude man. He rolls with mad security, has gangstas on the payroll. Breaks bottles on nikkas heads, just a few months ago TI had to tell him to relax. Punching Drake over a hit song? Puff all day.

In this world of sin, Puff is as wicked as they come.

Back in the 90s when him and Wolf rolled through ATL, NYC, LA...the 95 incident with Suge and Jake, to club NYC incident with Puff and Scar's Brooklyn gang, to Puff dealing w the Lox and tellin them to come to the office, Puff actin wild in the ATL w TI, Jeezy etc...

Nobody goes against him....on wax sure, but in person..no.

It don't matter..he coulda sat on it forever...it was his song..it wasn't Drake's song to release...it wasn't like Diddy was holdin him up on the song cause it was Diddy's in the first place..
If he didn't own it then it wasn't his. If he owned it then he'll be getting his publishing or he had the right to issue a cease and desist which he didn't so he must down own the beat nor the song.

Diddy took the beat..sent it to Drake to drop a verse on it..Drake sent it back..Diddy didn't record on it as fast as Drake would like even tho he was only supposed to be featured on the shyt anyway...Drake decides to record the full song himself without contacting Diddy...releases the song without contacting Diddy...and ignores Diddy from then on when Diddy tried to reach out to him...don't know what contracts or money was paid on the business end of things...but that was grimey of Drake..

If Diddy took the beat and never had any claim on it then it was never his bottom line. If the actual producer of the song has no issue with it then how the fukk can the snake have one? He didn't even pay for the beat.

Like I said I don't know what happened on the business side of things...maybe Diddy wanted to wait until everything was done to have it set in stone..u talkin bout a nikka who know contracts and the record business like the back of his hand...in reality all it took was for Drake to be a man about the shyt and hit Diddy up and let him know what he was doin...period..same way it technically ain't illegal to talk shyt to someone on the street..but u can't complain when u get ya ass whooped...

Seems like Puff made those comments months ago in the TMZ video so Drake would see it and holla back and work it out. Puff saying "get at me, u know where to find me". He gave him the opportunity to correct the issue....either with paper or by getting a track ready.

Drake could of atleast hollered back, put him on the remix or some shyt...instead of ignoring him..what u think Puff's going to do just let it slide.

If Puff was demo-ing the track for his album and has no clue drake took it and ran with it. Puff will record over a 16 month period and have 50-60 tracks in the vault before he starts to narrow down the scope and direction of his album. Thats how he works.

Putting together everything I've read/heard so far it went like this....

1. Diddy flew Boi-1da out to Miami for a beat recording session. You know the ones....the producer brings a few beats and plays it. Creates some on the spot. Henny. Blunts. Women. Deals are made.
2. Diddy found the one. Isn't clear if he bought more than one.
3. Diddy sends the beat to Drake to bless it with a verse, hook and concept.
4. Drake does his thing on it and sends it back
5. Diddy leaves the rest of the song unfinished and sits on it
6. Drake thought his verse was too hot to just sit there
7. He finished the track himself and released it
8. Drake commences to avoid Diddy and ignore his phone calls/emails/texts
9. Drake gets punched in the eye, hides out in hotel room.
Yeah Drake violated no question about that.
