Why give deals? He gave deals with an expected turn that aligned with his and his partners return requirements.

He's running a business, not a charity. He wasn't rich enough to run a charity back then or he'd have no money today probably and all of those that wasted their money would've still wasted it, just wasted a bit more.
Offering better terms to people you want to continue business with isnt a charity. Dude barely makes anything off music. This dude sat on those rights for years, with plenty of disgruntled signees being vocal and making buyout offers.

He obviously offered the best terms for his company, while artists offered the best terms for themselves at the time. Them being short-sighted is not on him :dahell:

Breh want big money today and the long-term riches. Usually in business you've got to choose, rappers are the biggest cry babies out, tryna make us feel sorry for them like they are doing God's work :snoop:

I'll never forget the story about one of those Philly rappers on the Roc crying about their deal. Then said he blew a million dollars on parties and ice, wanted more money to record his album and it was unfair. And he had not done shyt before that. The 90s rappers really didn't need to get it out the mud like the new school, that's why you rarely see bytch ass dudes recording themselves crying besides maybe Meek. Which is weird to me, as they are seemingly not as educated, studio gangsta that was raised well and on like say The Lox and other old heads.

A lot of what they went through was a result of Aubrey being messy though. There is reason why her publishing probably came with an NDA.
If you think those girls don't have stories regarding their time at Bad Boy you are naive. There is a reason they're putting the NDA clause in there and that's the reason a lot of fukkery stays under the radar. I don't really care what ppl think of Aubrey but her refusing to silence her voice for what she sees as pennies is understandable.
Why would a label give an artist publishing if they had written no hits prior to signing? You do know you don't make money from publishing if the songs aren't being played, sampled, or licensed for commercials and what not.

Well you wouldn't if you're following the status quo of the music industry which is extremely exploitative to writers and artists alike.

Breh, those girls had a whole lot of in group fighting. Wanna know who the common denominator was: Aubrey O'Day. Even after leaving Bad Boy, there were physical fights among group members. And yes, there is an NDA especially for someone like Aubrey. It's public knowledge of her causing drama within that group.

And yes, her publishing for Bad Boy is pennies. We are talking Danity Kane, not Total. Name a Danity Kane song. Furthermore, when is the last time you heard a Danity Kane song?

In regard to writing, ANY author would need a publisher unless you have your own publishing. Most people don't, which is why they pay a publisher.

I don't care about none of that. Whatever issues the girls has amongst themselves doesn't negate any exploitation they went through via Bad Boy, idek why your deflecting from the topic at hand to discuss that.

And that Damaged song was JUST viral not too long ago. You sound like you're in a bubble. Was Danity Kane Destiny's Child status?? Of course not, but they had a cute run and ppl are always interested in ppl pulling the curtain back, ESPECIALLY around someone like Diddy.

Edit: They just gave KeKe Wyatt her own reality show, them girls could definitely get a show if they wanted to.

If we are being honest Aubrey more than likely has plans to do some type of tell all where she's detailing her experiences with Puff, Bad Boy, and dating Trump Jr. To her that is more valuable than owning 1/5 of Danity Kane's publishing. She will forever be able to garner attention by speaking about Puff.

Show me where any of those girls talked about being exploited by Diddy not named Aubrey O'Day.

Danity Kane didn't have a run especially coming off of a huge TV Show with an album that featured production from some of the biggest names at the time. This is how I know a lot of you don't know what you're talking about. They should've been bigger than Destiny's Child given the platform they had. It was squandered. One real hit isn't a run.

I can't name an old Danity Kane record. How am I in a bubble?

Keke Wyatt has a show because she's spent the past 10 years in and out of reality TV starting with R&B Divas then Marriage Boot Camp. People will tune in to see her make crazy faces, her family life, what she's been up to since the previous shows, and her singing. Plus, her and Nick Cannon seem to be in a race against each other of who can have more kids faster.

Dawn has implied this in multiple interviews, but never going as far as Aubrey has for obvious reasons.

They had a platinum album right in the middle of albums sales starting to soften due to piracy. You not knowing a Danity Kane song doesn't mean much. I'm sure there's a bunch of female artists with varying levels of popularity from the last 20 years you aren't familiar with.

And Aubrey also had her own run on reality TV with the E! Network so everything I said still stands.

Probably so and her stance makes sense. Some of the Bad Boy artists want the rights to their work which is understandable and artists like Aubrey feel their story is more valuable. It is what it is.
