Basically what he did

Look, Canelo did what he was supposed to do up until fighting Floyd and thats beat who was put in front of him. He beat Trout (even though I think it exposed his stamina) which would mean Trout/Cotto are both overrated and thats not the case. I would like to See Canelo fight a Ortiz, Guererro, Cotto, Trout again (Trout stayed busier I thought), or any other 'B+' fighter to decide if he's overrated or not.

One loss to the best boxer of this generation isn't gonna sell me on that

Very much overhyped

Received a gift vs Tyner
Struggled vs Matthew Hatton
Nearly knocked flat on his ass by Jose Cotto
Eye closed and bloody vs a Shot Triggerless Mosley
Gift vs Trout, in a open scoring bout

I tried to tell you nikkas, yall don't listen though:youngsabo:

So Floyd gets no credit for beating a bum fighter then:manny:

You can't play both sides of the fence:ufdup:

I think Canelo is a good fighter who was beaten by a great fighter. That's all. If you saying Alvarez is a bum, you can't possibly use him to big up Floyd record then.
I felt Canelo didnt even earn the fight and Garcia was a far more legit opponent even before Matthysse, so where are you getting playing both sides of the fence shyt from youngin

And I never used Canelo to big up Floyd's record, when people were complaining about signature fights in one of them other threads I could've easily said Canelo since it was the 2nd highest selling ppv, just like I could've said Oscar since that was #1, but I keep it real and hold myself to a higher standard than yall dikkriders here such as yourself. Floyd didnt even respect him and claim he built Canelo up, why should I????????????

Yes Cotto is slightly overrated, doesnt quite meet my HOF standards just ye,t like they tout, but hey I aint the one voting

And Trout aint shyt I have always stated this also, I felt he had enough to trouble Canelo and win which he should've but I always stood firm about Trout being a shytty fighter, I've watched more than 2 of his matches and knew better, I was livid here when he got the Canelo match

i was not surprised at what happened in floyd-canelo...i knew this fight was going to play out like it did.....therefore there was nothing to get excited about it...matthysse-garcia and molina going for his first title was the only reason why this ppv got bought by me...the only thing that surprised me was that canelo didn't gas out early. canelo wasn't ready for this fight

He did gas out Early, from round 3 on the ass whipping was fierce, Floyd took his foot off the gas picking his shots when he was laying on the ropes wainting for the death blows in round 7 and later on in the match....................................

Of course he was over-hyped. His best win (barely) came against Trout, who's best win came against a overthehill Cotto. He had no business fighting Floyd. But because of his looks and poor opposition, he garnered a huge fan base and since Mayweather needed a big PPV after his fight with Guerrero bombed, they picked Canelo on Mexican Independence Day wknd to cash in on Canelo's popularity.

I think he's over hyped in a sense that people think he's going to get drastically better.

In my eyes he's not a special/extraordinary talent. Just a very good fighter. His speed, conditioning, hand speed will stay relatively the same, but his ring generalship and and strength will be better.

I don't necessarily think Canelo was overhyped; maybe Mayweather came into the fight underrated. I think Canelo is the future of boxing.

Even if the Guerrero fight did the minimum reported number it's still around 800k. I would hardly count a mandatory fight against a complete unknown( outside real boxing fans) doing those numbers as " bombed"

Over hyped... not yet. Taking an L to the current Floyd doesn't mean you're overrated. I think he was too inexperienced but he was also much bigger, younger, with good hand speed. Floyd was/is just too good..

Won't be able to tell if he's overhyped until his next opponent/fight.

There was enough hype for many people to think he was gonna bully the best boxer of the generation. He's over hyped.

Not saying that people who know boxing thought that but the hype got to the general public, de la Hoya saying he was gonna kick Floyd's ass, that's OD hype. Hype machine behind canelo is working overtime. Even Floyd says he will be the king when he retires, OVER HYPE
