DeVante was more hands on than Dr Dre though. Dre needed studio musicians to help him out, whereas DeVante was a talented multi instrumentalist. For example the acoustic guitar he played on The Show, The Hotel, The Afterparty he taught himself that in months. And to make it worse Dre’s mostly a hip hop producer which is a do it yourself type of thing and DeVante was mostly R&B.

Not too mention during his heyday it was said he would sometimes stay in the studio for days straight.

Devante also auditioned to joins Prince's group as a teenager in the 80s.

so the only thing Dr. Dre can do is rap and engineer, make basic beats and sample? He doesn't know any instruments at all?

Dre can play keyboards and use the drum machine if you want to count that as an instrument. But he’s limited on what he’s able to do on the keys, so he’s used others like La Dre Scott Storch, Emmanuel Dean, Mark Batson, etc over the years to get the sounds he wants.

Timbaland may have done some scratches or something, but I don't know if I buy the ghost-production. He definitely had a hand in some tracks after Diary though

ok...we're on the radio, live caller for NWA

Caller "yeah man, I played guitar on the Eazy Duz It album, and I wanna know when I'm gonna get paid"

CLICK

Dre" you got ganked"

*the irony of that skit from Straight outta Compton album...and having Dre deliver that line.

You're wrong. "No More Pain" is definitely more so a Timbaland joint than a Devante joint even if Timbaland didn't necessarily touch the track.

Timbaland even confirmed that he did the Tupac beat...but got damn. Didn't know he had that many haters on thecoli.

I posted on a Timbaland BBS ages ago, and there was an interview where Tim straight up said "No More Pain" and "Love You Down" were bites of his shyt

Hah hah you just put that skit in a whole new perspective for me. And also that was from the Eazy Duz It album I remember because I played that more than Straight Outta Compton
