Did The Wire jump the shark in season 5? Spoilers if your late ass hasn't seen one of the goats.

People forget that Season 5 was only granted 10 episodes instead of the usual 12. That's 2 hours of footage that had to be condensed.

Imagine the other seasons being cut to 10 episodes. You would have been disappointed at those as well.

The did kinda jump the shark with it plus those media/newspaper people were worst part of The Wire and totally uninteresting in every way.

It's still the GOAT show ever, but take away the serial killer storyline and those boring ass media people and it would have been a good season 5.
My biggest issue with the newspaper shyt outside of it being boring and uninteresting is that it was probably the only characters that were written as purely black and white. You had pure enemies and villians without any shades of gray.

Season 2 > Season 5

I did a rewatch awhile back and never finished it. Stopped after the episode where Prop Joe was killed. Rewatching this show also gave me a greater appreciation for Season 2 because I did not like it on my original watch. You really do catch so many little things you miss on rewatches. The Wire is definitely the GOAT TV show.

It bored me so much I didn't even pay attention to the character development. They should have just left that aspect alone like they did in the previous seasons.

Rewatched last year, wasn't as bad as I remembered. Still worst season though.

I liked the resolute ending scene, but overall S5 was trash af

and the fbi could and would investigate a cop out there framing a serial killer. Ask google if you don’t believe me, “serial killers” is one of the special circumstances that allows the feds to take over local or state jurisdictions . They can also assist in investigations with state and local too like in S2

maintaining the “integrity” of law enforcement departments and institutions is something the fbi tries to do to keep the public safe…aka make sure ppl feel safe to go out and spend money.

Season 2 of The Wire was a fresh bowl of horse shyt.

Fight Me.
It wasn’t and if you didn’t like season 2, then you don’t understand why you will never be wealthy.

Season five wasn’t as strong as the other four seasons because the newspaper staff was basic as fukk.

season 2 is actual my personal favorite. It’s drastically underrated. The stark contrast with S1 and shifting scenery from the PJs to the docks after developing the characters in S1 so well left a sour taste in everyone’s mouths.

However, upon rewatch, S2 is excellent and imperative to understand how the real players/int’l crime groups get drugs in the country and then bounce out of the country. “Many names…many passports”.

The fbi mole, the Greek snitching on the Colombians to not only get revenge on them for not paying but also to keep his mole happy and influential in the fbi. The Greek was the most powerful person in the entire show…(maaaybe Carcetti once governor)

Excellent critiques of globalization, lobbyism, gentrification in S2 as well. McNulty’s rant at the lawyers and prosecutors “I’m not a member of your wicked little tribe” :wow::wow::wow:

Ziggy was a lame I’ll concede that

Season 5 was ok, the weakest of the five but still better than most shows. I honestly felt they could of done a season 6 focusing on the hospitals with the very obvious drug war hitting the streets with the fall of the Stanfield organization

The Wire as a show is a stunning critique of capitalism, but season two is the best depiction of it.

The Greek was the most powerful character and was the only one that easily evaded capture, and then he ends up coming back like it was nothing.
