He didn't fall off. He just somewhere that no one really gives a fukk about (TNA). His feuds with Jarrett, Samoa Joe and AJ Styles were good.

If you need all of that to happen in front of 20,000 people, he did.

People give a fukk about TNA, there are too many mentions of them and strong opinions one way or another. If peeps didn't care, no one would make the effort to even talk about them ala ROH or other feds out there alive and thriving.
