I think this verse was probably recorded before Kendrick’s verse on Like That and before Cole’s rebuttal. But it makes me wonder why he would release 7 min Drill at all, he HAD to know that this album was coming out with his verse on it and surely someone told him about Kendrick verse on Like That no matter when he recorded it. Either that, or Kendrick told him about t and he made this fake response bullshyt to boost interest for the album.
This whole thing is bizarre as hell.
J. Cole, through sheer hard work, turned himself into one of the best rappers in the game. He was able to erase the image he had in his previous years and make people forget about his low points (Sideline Story, Nas shytting on him for "Work Out," the bad punchlines, producing everything himself). All he had to do was emphasize quality and ask himself if he had really done everything in his power to build a legacy, and it paid off.
In less than a week, all that hard work is going down the drain. Cole's known as a good guy so it's not like he's created enemies over the years, but it's almost like early 2010s Cole took over the current Cole's spirit and he's making all the decisions now. I don't know what to make of this anymore.
